Our differences make us stronger.

We're working toward a world where everyone can show up as their true selves, bringing their unique perspectives and experiences with them. We believe our commitment to diversity and inclusion creates a work environment filled with exceptional individuals. These colleagues contribute to our success and help us better serve our customers through innovative solutions to their evolving needs. Our commitment is rooted in three distinct pillars.

Diversity and inclusion pillars

We’re building a professional culture that engages and welcomes everyone to make sure all employees feel they belong.

We’re integrating inclusion, equity, and diversity into our recruitment strategies to create a more diverse workplace.

We’re strengthening how we live these values with our customers and in our communities to create positive change.

February is Black History Month

We celebrate Black History Month through education, awareness, and service. Employees come together to share their experiences and learn from guest speakers, all while celebrating their authentic selves.

“Transamerica is deeply committed to inclusion and diversity, and we recognize that we must continue to enhance our efforts. Our colleagues and our communities help us think of opportunities to grow, as individuals and as an organization, so we can do more for our employees, customers, and partners.”

—Holly Waters, Chief People Officer

Diversity and inclusion programs

To bolster a culture of inclusivity throughout our workforce, workplace, and marketplace, we focus our work in the following areas.

Education and awareness

Leaders and employees receive unconscious bias training as part of our diversity, equity, and inclusion education offerings. Employee Resource Groups create even more awareness opportunities.

Leadership development

Developing the future leaders of our organization is a top priority. Employees can access opportunities through programs like succession planning, professional development offerings through our Employee Resource Groups, our talent marketplace, and mentoring.

Talent acquisition

We work with minority-serving organizations, historically Black colleges and universities, and Hispanic-serving institutions to attract diverse talent. We’ve also teamed up with INROADs, a nonprofit that equips underrepresented students with access to resources and corporate experiences through internships.

Boards and memberships

Transamerica has membership and board positions in several focused organizations, both national and regional, that support diversity and inclusion efforts. Our key memberships include the Women Lead Change Board, the Corridor Women Connect Advisory Board, the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) I & D Committee, the Insured Retirement Institute (IRI) Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, and our standing as an EPIC Challenge Member Company.

Supplier diversity

Having an inclusive procurement process is good business for all of us. We actively foster relationships with diverse suppliers who offer high-quality goods and services with competitive pricing.

"Transamerica has made a strong commitment to inclusion and diversity, and we’re proud to be an organization where all perspectives are valued, and employees can be their authentic selves at work. We believe this fosters a more equitable workplace and enhances the communities where we live and work."

– Evette Creighton, Sr. Leader, Talent Strategies, Inclusion and Diversity

Diversity and inclusion awards

We’re thrilled to have been recognized by several organizations for our work toward becoming a more equitable and inclusive business. It shows our progress and reminds us of our goals.

Employee Resource Groups

All Transamerica employees can be a part of our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). They help us better appreciate our similarities and differences and understand how diversity in the workplace benefits our business, community, and marketplace. ERGs are employee-driven, company-sponsored, and focus on what matters most to employees.

Rise: Asian Affinity

This group facilitates bonding experiences among employees who share an interest in East Asian culture. It promotes a better understanding of the culture, tradition, and business environment of East Asia and supports club members’ growth in their careers.

Black Professionals for Change

This group is focused on moving beyond diversity toward a world without racism, where everyone is celebrated, uplifted, recognized, and included.

Dimensions: Diverse Abilities Partnering Together

In support of disabled employees and families with disabled members, this group provides resources for all employees to understand and help create a more inclusive workplace.

Expatriate Network

This network offers support and resources for employees new to the United States, as they adapt to life in a different country. Members share their talents and resources to build strong relationships and a sense of community with diverse viewpoints.

Family Connections

Members create a supportive network for employees who are parents, parents-to-be, caring for elders, or represent other family dynamics. The group provides resources and assistance for adjusting to the life changes that come with having family.

Generations Network

This group strives to create a more dynamic workplace through shared knowledge and understanding. It encourages different generations to learn from each other and discover new ways to work together.

Hispanic or Latino Affiliation

Members share the values and vitality that derive from multiple cultural heritages to show how diversity can strengthen and lift all Transamerica employees and customers.

PROUD: Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Queer Intersex Asexual+

These employees are creating a workforce where the presence and contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual (LGBTQIA+) employees and their allies are welcome and celebrated. Members positively impact our business and strengthen our culture of diversity and inclusion. PROUD celebrates individuals’ differences, supports LGBTQIA+ employee awareness, and brings the needs of LGBTQIA+ consumers into focus.

Spectrum Multicultural Network

This group is a multicultural network whose goal is to celebrate the intersection of diversity and culture while providing access to a range of senior leaders and influencers. The group offers networking and educational opportunities, tools, and resources that emphasize a commitment to making a positive impact in the workplace and community.

People Using Technology

This network promotes collaboration to develop and use technology and leadership skills to enrich experiences within our company and our community. Members can come together to foster innovation with, and through, technology.

Veteran’s ERG

Members share a vision to enhance our culture of diversity and inclusion through the differences and experiences military veterans bring to the company. The group wants veterans to be seen as valued members of, and contributors to, Transamerica. It includes active and inactive military, veterans, military families, and anyone who would like to learn more.

Women’s Impact Network

This group is committed to women — and the men who support them — having a voice through development and mentorship. The Women’s Impact Network (WIN) wants to ignite a passion among its members for making positive contributions in the workplace.

“Transamerica’s commitment to inclusion and diversity is evidenced by its unwavering support of employee resource groups, in the internal training offered to employees, and in the unprecedented engagement of senior leadership. Taking an active role in these offerings has benefited me both personally and professionally. Today I can say, I am encouraged and feel more included than ever before.“
